Written as a symphony for unaccompanied voices, George Lynn composed Sacred Symphony No. 1 in four movements (1958), of which “Sing unto the Lord a New Song” is the 3rdmovement. Calling for SATB forces, this work was commissioned by and dedicated to the Harding CollegeA Capella Choir, Kenneth Davis, director.George Lynn conducted the Sacred Symphony premiere performance, March 21, 1959.For church, high school, community and college choirs.
